Directly on Salalah's front rests Islamic Dhofar: Al Baleed (UNESCO) — the medieval city Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo described, its hundred-column great mosque ruins and lagoon walls, with the two-wing Museum of the Frankincense Land telling incense and sea wholly. Museum first, then ruins — electric carts loop the wide site for the rest-inclined; evening is its finest hour of lighting, breeze and lagoon walks; nearly central Salalah — the easiest of the three UNESCO sites and the fittest start.
