The queen-pharaoh carved it into the Deir el-Bahari cliff: Hatshepsut's temple — three ascending colonnaded terraces dissolving into the mountain: the boldest design in all Egyptian architecture, its reliefs telling the famous Punt expedition. Very early morning — the cliff turns furnace by mid-morning: always first in; the Punt reliefs (second terrace) are the famed picture-story — a guide revives them; classically joined with the Valley of the Kings and Memnon in the one West Bank day.
