Istanbul-born chef Mehmet opened Ateliers about eight years ago at 288 Shuiqing Road in Minhang's Xinzhuang area. The restaurant features blue-and-white décor, mosaic lamps, and genuine Turkish carpets evoking Istanbul.
Its signature dish is the One-Meter Kebab Feast (¥268, serves 2-3), where six to eight types of meat hang from a meter-long iron rack, charcoal-grilled and brushed with yogurt-spice glaze before being wheeled to the table with special music. Another highlight is Turkish fig-beef pide (¥78). Ateliers also offers free Turkish costume rentals for photos and complimentary tea in tulip-shaped glasses. Reservations recommended, especially on weekends.
