Zizhuyuan Park, known as Purple Bamboo Park (or Black Bamboo Park), is located at No. 35 South Zhongguancun Street in Haidian District, with its eastern gate directly facing the Capital Gymnasium. It is one of the seven largest parks in Beijing, covering an area of about 45.73 hectares, dotted with three lakes and two small islets connected by a dike, with the Nanchang and Shuangzi rivers running through it. The park is named for its rich collection of bamboo, which includes more than 50 different species, most notably the distinctively dark-hued black bamboo. Visitors can wander across its wooden bridges and shaded paths, rent a boat to enjoy the lakes, or jog along the loop trail popular with sports enthusiasts. The park combines a tranquil natural character with the atmosphere of a traditional Chinese garden, making it a favorite destination for local residents year-round.
