The oldest historic building in Hail, perched atop a hill visible from much of the city. It was first built in the late seventeenth century by the Al Ali family and later expanded under the Al Rashid. A rectangular mudbrick fortress measuring roughly 40 by 11 meters, it houses watchtowers, a prayer hall, storerooms, and water cisterns, and was historically used to sight the Ramadan crescent moon and fire the iftar cannon. It has recently been opened to visitors as a heritage site.
