Shanghai's well-known Muslim market is held almost every Friday, roughly between 11am and 3pm, along Changde Road at its intersection with Aomen Road in Jing'an District, directly in front of Huxi Mosque, one of Shanghai's most important mosques, rebuilt after the founding of modern China.

The market is mostly run by vendors from China's Muslim minority communities, particularly from Xinjiang, who offer authentic halal dishes such as cumin-spiced lamb skewers, fresh naan bread, cold hand-pulled noodles (liangmian), whole roasted lamb, alongside nuts, dried fruits, and traditional sweets.

The market offers Muslim visitors a rare chance to enjoy authentic halal Central Asian flavors in the heart of Shanghai, along with an intimate social atmosphere that follows Friday prayers at the neighboring mosque.
