Nan Lian Garden sits on Fung Tak Road in Diamond Hill, opened in 2006 next to Chi Lin Nunnery, and designed in the style of classical Tang dynasty Chinese gardens using traditional wooden construction techniques that join pieces together without nails.
Highlights include the Golden Pavilion and the Pavilion Bridge stretching over the "Blue Pond," alongside ornamental rocks, carefully pruned bonsai trees and an artificial waterfall, creating a striking contrast between the garden's calm and the surrounding skyscrapers.
Admission is free, and a pedestrian bridge connects the garden to the adjacent Chi Lin Nunnery, making a joint visit to both a rich and peaceful cultural experience away from the city's bustle.
