Beijing Aquarium is located at 137 Xizhimenwai Dajie in Xicheng District, central Beijing, within or adjacent to the grounds of Beijing Zoo. It is known as the largest indoor aquarium in Asia and houses a wide range of freshwater and marine creatures, including sharks and rare Chinese freshwater fish such as the Chinese sturgeon, as well as coral reefs and numerous species of colorful fish. Visitors walk through darkened corridors lined with massive glass tanks that create a sense of diving into the depths, and live marine animal shows are held at scheduled times. The venue is an enjoyable destination suited to families and children, and a visit can easily be combined with a tour of the neighboring Beijing Zoo on the same day.
