Bayezid II built it for the silk trade (1491) and it still trades: Koza Han — an Ottoman court shaded by a huge tree with a small mosque hung on columns at center, shops around selling Bursa silk and scarves as five centuries have. Courtyard tea beneath the tree is Bursa's first rite — sit before you buy; true silk shows in the burn test (ask the seller to show) with gentle negotiation; the Grand Mosque and covered bazaar adjoin — all Bursa's heart contiguous.
