A historic fort standing at an elevation of around 200 meters, built from stone, timber, and mud. King Abdulaziz ordered its restoration in 1932 (1351 AH) to serve as the base for Jazan's first Saudi military garrison, and it later formally received King Faisal. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Qar'awi transformed it from a military barracks into a center of learning for students of the region. A comprehensive restoration began in 2012, and a small museum was established inside recounting Jazan's history.
