On a cliff falling 70m to the ocean stands Uluwatu — among Bali's six holiest temples and its most scenic: waves breaking below, sunset firing the ocean, and the famous communal Kecak dance performed in its amphitheatre at every dusk. Book Kecak early and arrive an hour ahead for the western sunset seat; the monkeys are professional snatchers — glasses and caps bagged before descending; the cliff path both ways completes the visit — all the frames live there.
